Proposed plans
A Grade II listed building, it opened in 1932 and is famous for its stunning barrel vaulted roof. It was closed in 1997 due to operational and health and safety concerns and the ongoing repair and maintenance of the facility.

What's happening now?

Despite the current economic climate and credit crunch, work has been ongoing for the project team to ensure the project could turn from plans in to reality. Westminster City Council and its development partner Marshall Street Regeneration Ltd. (MSRL) completed a legally binding development agreement on 6 August 2008. MSRL took possession of the Marshall Street site on 11 August and their build contractor ISG Interior Exterior Plc commenced works on site. On completion of the redevelopment the site will be returned to Council control.

The Council's leisure team will be appointing a contractor later in 2008 to operate the leisure centre and will agree a programme of activities for the community. The refurbished leisure centre will continue to be owned by Westminster City and it will be run as a public facility. Concessions will be offered to Westminster residents including free swimming for children. It is hoped that if the construction programme runs to plan the leisure centre will be open to the public in the first half of 2010.

Please see the 12th newsletter from ISG below regarding the building works. These will be updated and posted on the website on a regular basis.
